Theresa Timony, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner

Meet Theresa Timony,
Nurse Practitioner,
IFM Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner and Coach

Welcome! I am excited to hear about your journey and explore ways we can bring healing to your mind, body and spirit. I know it can be scary and exhausting to retell your story to multiple providers and not always find the healing you need. This is non-judgmental place where we can go on this journey together at a pace and direction that you choose.

My approach is to assist in finding and addressing the root causes of you not feeling and operating at your best. I do not just label you with a diagnosis and then give you prescriptions based on that diagnosis. I take a very individualized approach to bring you healing and assist you on your journey to optimal wellness.

Depending on your unique needs, goals, and preferences we can explore a variety of treatment options including: psychiatric medication management, therapy, calming systemic inflammation, boosting the immune system, healing a leaky gut and brain, silencing genetic variants, attaining a healthy microbiome, identifying and treating nutritional deficiencies or imbalances, assistance in breaking habit loops, practices to calm the nervous system, etc.

I work with people of all ages.

Common struggles I assist with: life transitions, grief, depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, sleep issues, prevention of cognitive decline, autism spectrum struggles, academic or athletic performance, etc.

Integrative Psychiatry and Functional Medicine are very important lenses that I operate through. My specialty training after becoming a Nurse Practitioner includes:

  • Integrative Psychiatry Fellowship, led by Dr. James Greenblatt MD, who was inducted into the Orthomolecular Medicine Hall of Fame

  • Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (Institute for Functional Medicine, IFM). And Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach (FMCA).

  • ReCODE 2.0 Certified Practitioner, with Dr. Dale Bredesen MD, author of The End of Alzheimer's Program

  • Psychopharmacology ongoing training: American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, Neuroscience Education Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Academy (OCD, Womens Mental health, etc)

  • Neurologist "Right Sleep Program"certification

  • American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), advanced coursework. It is very healing for the subconscious when the logical, linear thinking of traditional talk therapy has not provided wanted results.                                                                    Clinical Hypnosis is nothing like Stage Hypnosis; you are never under anyone's control and don't do anything embarrassing.  It involves using imagery and relaxation to help you get out of limiting beliefs.                                                                  Through deep relaxation, your amygdala (fight or flight, and over-active mind) calms down so you can easily access more creative thinking and problem solving.                                                                         Top athletes use it to rehearse their skills in their heads prior to performing, and these mental rehearsals provide far superior results than just physical practice.

Everyone benefits from exploring the multiple root causes for their brain-body imbalances. Rather than chasing ongoing symptoms and side effects with multiple medications, it is through exploring your unique genetic, biochemical, social, spiritual, and environmental history that I can help guide you in balancing your systems and create lasting healing.

It is with a warm and welcoming heart that I look forward to partnering with you to help you work towards your unique goals.
